The lucky people of Didsbury Manchester will have 2 Christmas lights switch-ons in 2009. The main lights switch-on with be in Didsbury Village, and a seconds switch-on will happen in West Didsbury as part of Christmas WestFest.
Didsbury Village – Christmas lights are turned on Wednesday December 2nd outside Didsbury library at 7pm. Afterwards non-alcoholic mulled wine and biscuits will be available in Emmanuel Church Hall. The event has been organised by Didsbury in Bloom and Didsbury Civic Society.
West Didsbury – Christmas lights are turned on Thursday December 3rd at 7pm by DJ Dave Haslam and will be accompanied by late night closing for some shops on Burton Road and Lapwing Lane.

On the corner of Wilmslow Road and Barlow Moor road is a large building that has been the home of Squires Public House, The Clock Tower Public House and more recently the failed Fugu Restaurant and Bar.
In November the building will be re-opened as a Zizzi Italian Restaurant with 100 indoor seats and seating for 60 outside. The chain already has two Manchester branches in the city centre located at Spinningfields and The Triangle.
